We also took a subway ride this evening, which was an exciting life experience. These pictures show the group exiting the subway area up a steep escalator. All our kids did an excellent job navigating this adventure!

The boys listen to their tour guide at the FDR Memorial, which features dramatic waterfalls in four different outdoor rooms that symbolize the happenings of FDR's four terms as president.

Touring the MLK Memorial and pushing apart the mountain of despair. Then posing near the tidal basin with the Jefferson Memorial in the background.

We toured Mt. Vernon this afternoon. Shaun was able to pose with a character from the estate outside the mansion. He built a model of Mt. Vernon as his man-made structure project last year.

Having a blast on our cruise!

Getting ready to eat aboard our lunch cruise on the Potomac.

One of our students had a relative who works in the White House scheduling the travel for the naval cooks who travel with the first family. She was able to present us with a very cool White House souvenir - official red, white, and blue M&Ms signed by the president! Thanks to Kristen Kuhn for making this stop extra special for our kids!

Visiting the White House!

Touring Arlington National Cemetery this beautiful morning.
